Samantha Garza (she/her)

I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Washington-Seattle. I am currently working with Dr. Jessica Werk to investigate gas that surrounds galaxies called the circumgalactic medium to further our understanding this reservoir's ionization state and dynamics to gain insight on its role in galaxy evolution. At UW, I am the Social Media and Trivia guru for Astronomy on Tap Seattle and I am heavily involved in other public outreach and science communication events (e.g. giving planetarium shows and volunteering for eSTEAM). Outside of research, I enjoy playing volleyball, crafts, baking, and exploring the Seattle area.
