The Astronomy Department offers a broad postdoctoral program covering all areas of active research within the Department and related interdisciplinary centers (the Virtual Planet Laboratory and DiRAC).
Our postdocs have a diversity of interests ranging from theoretical and observational astronomy and astrophysics, to research in instrumentation, scientific algorithms, and software. The postdocs are encouraged to join existing research teams in the department, as well as develop their own research ideas.
All UW Astronomy postdocs are guided towards their goals by at least one faculty mentor and assisted by an individual development plan (IDP) process. We explicitly recognize our postdocs’ goals are as diverse as their expertise, and equally value and support their choice of continuing in academia or industry.
