Joachim is a researcher and software engineer at the University of Washington DiRAC Institute and at the Asteroid Institute, a program of B612. He is leading the development of an algorithm named Tracklet-less Heliocentric Orbit Recovery (THOR). THOR was designed to discover asteroids in datasets that were not constructed for discovery searches with the hope of making future astronomical surveys more efficient at asteroid discovery. Joachim is broadly interested in solving complex problems using data-driven software solutions and is motivated to learn new skills along the way.
