It was a real thrill to find out that Stan is the primary source of communication between the Artemis II crew and the ground. This is a very technical and prized job. Stan is a perfect choice, he was an extremely brilliant grad student in our department. The surprise of hearing Stan reminded me of a previous surprise from our other dept astronaut - Pinky Nelson. We watched the first Shuttle landing on the dry lake at Edwards AFB and were thrilled when our radio announced that Pinky was in the T-38 chase plane that flew along side the Shuttle.
