Generous donors have established two new Graduate Funds to honor emeritus astronomy faculty George Wallerstein and Paul Hodge.

As one of the nation’s fastest growing cities, Seattle’s high cost of living has been a cause of concern within the astronomy department, especially for graduate students. State regulations restrict the amount that can be offered to students in the form of Teaching and Research Assistantships. The new Graduate Funds named in honor of long-time department members George Wallerstein and Paul Hodge can be used to provide incentives for graduate student recruitment, to assist continuing graduate students who encounter financial emergencies, or for other purposes that facilitate and enrich the experiences of our astronomy grads. If you would like to make a donation to one or both of these funds to honor the many contributions that George and Paul have made to our department, please make a gift here.
