COSMOLOGY: THIS COURSE IS AN OVERVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN COSMOLOGY. I WILL GIVE SOME BACKGROUND IN THE RELEVANT PHYSICS, AND THEN EXPLORE RECENT RESULTS AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE UNIVERSE. (REQUEST PERMISSION & ADD CODE IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN A 100-LEVEL ASTRO COURSE.)
Catalog Description:
Topics of current interest, such as origin of chemical elements, novae and supernovae, white dwarfs, neutron stars, black holes, active galaxies, quasars, or interstellar medium and astrochemistry. Choice of topics depends on instructor and class interest. Prerequisite: either one 100- or one 200-level ASTR course.
